Virvon varvon

Virpominen is a Finnish Easter tradition. On the Palm Sunday children disguised as witches walk from door to door saying: 'Virvon varvon tuoreeks terveeks, tulevaks vuuveks! Vitsa sulle, palkka mulle!...' (wishes of good for the new year, twig for you, reward to me). They give away decorated willow twigs and get some sweets instead. My sons for the first time today fulfilled this tradition.
Suomalaisille virpomisesta varmasti ei tarvitse kirjoittaa erikseen suomeksi:-)
